SOS Medical and Social Centres in Zambia
In Zambia there are currently five Social Centres and two Medical Centres for children and the local community, including those in Kitwe and Lusaka. Many SOS Social Centres operate via Family Strengthening Programmes, which aim to support the wider community. Medical Centres provide treatments and services to the local community. Description of SOS Social Centre/FSP:
The SOS Social Centre offers help to up to 2,500 HIV and AIDS affected families, giving them material support including seeds and school feeds, basic medical treatment and psychosocial support.
Kitwe
Description of SOS Social Centre/FSP:
Up to 2,500 HIV and AIDS affected families receive assistance from the SOS Social Centre, including material support (including seeds and school fees), basic medical treatment and psychosocial support.

Lusaka
Description of SOS Medical Centre:
Up to 10,000 families per year receive treatment at the SOS Medical Centre, which consists of a chemist's shop, a room for medical treatment, laboratories and counselling, examination and observation rooms.
Kitwe
Description of SOS Medical Centre:
In early 2005, the SOS Medical Centre went into operation. The SOS Medical Centre comprises a chemist's shop, a room for medical treatment, laboratories and counselling, examining and observation rooms, and it can offer treatment to up to 10,000 families per year.
