SOS Social Centre Battambang
Update report from 2008:
It is expected that the SOS Social Centre Battambang to full function onset of September after construction, but due to difficulties in recruitment of health background people & obtaining official license from the ministry of health, this center’s original objective to serve for people and children affected by HIV/AIDS are halted till now only the family strengthening activities still undergoing. Within the 15 km radius from the centre, the beneficiaries meet to the criteria of the Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) are 111 people identified included 50 children, and engaged in the programme.
Of 111 there are 84 families we are working, with concentrate our core activities on the improvement of the family condition regarding to initiate and supporting of key children’s development need and alleviate the socio-economic through diversify of services providing in order for them to support their own children independently. In particular, we support 111 children for education, 62 caregivers for vocational training and 5 for emergency grant. This exceptional case happens where during the visit to those families, there is nothing for them to eat and couldn’t allow their children go to school and we grant them these kinds of emergency.
Presumably, by the end of March, the Social Centre to the north of Lake Sap, western Cambodia will open to support mother and child health care, after obtaining official license from the ministry of health and health worker recruitment completion end of this February. We are also plan to accept the communities’ families living vicinity of the centre and other outsiders by limited amount to daily basis.
