Anangpur SOS Medical Centre

The SOS Medical Centre, Anangpur helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It is providing outpatient health care to seven communities close to Anangpur. In addition six "rural medical camps" provide specialist care - cancer, eyes, dentistry and paediatrics.

Update from 2008:

SOS Medical Centre Anangpur IndiaThe SOS Medical centre has been functioning since April 1994. It was dedicated to the community with the main objective of safe motherhood and childhood.  The areas which are covered by this project are Anangpur, Mewla Maharajpur, Surajkund, Gurukul and Dayalnagar and SOS Greenfields.

Presently the medical team comprises of

  • A lady medical officer who conducts morning OPD’s daily. 
  • Visiting Doctors on weekly basis i.e. Dentist, Ophthalmologist Eye Surgeon.

The SOS Medical Centre arranges medical camps from time to time like Eye camps and Cancer detection camps. During these camps the beneficiaries are provided with health awareness, immunization and family planning measures are explained. The project with the help & co-operation from Primary Health Centre - Anangpur has been able to immunize the children and has provided family planning measures to the villagers as well.

Apart from these, yearly medical checkups of children from SOS Greenfields and mothers are done. Similarly, yearly medical checkups of all FSP beneficiaries in all six communities and the SOS School Sector -29 and Anangpur are done.

Total number of patients during the year 2008 was 4,206 in comparison to 4,135 in 2007.

Bhimtal SOS Medical Centre

The SOS Medical Centre, Bhimtal helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It provides basic health care to the local community. In addition the SOS Medical Centre has seven beds for in-patients. The centre also runs public health awareness programmes to improve the prevention of diseases.

Bhuj SOS Medical Centre

The SOS Medical Centre, Bhuj helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It started its work in October 2004. It provides basic health care to five villages near Bhuj.

Chennai SOS Medical Centre

The SOS Medical Centre, Chennai helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It runs "rural medical camps" for the local communities, a population of more than 30,000. The SOS Medical Centre sees about 2,000 patients every month. The focus is on prevention and on health education, including family planning and pre- and post-natal care.

Anangpur SOS Social Centre

The SOS Social Centre, Anangpur helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It gives support in health and education to poor and needy families in the local community. The objective is to help children, especially girsl to become educated and thus self-reliant. The SOS Social Centre concentrates on child development, skills training, community development and health care.

Update from 2008:

At the  SOS Social Centre, Anangpur all activities were re-aligned with Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) in 2008.

Social centre Anangpur set a target of 1,100 children in 2008. Survey was done at Gurukul and Anangpur, Ghadhkhor, Dayalnagar, Nuh. Presently Social Centre,  Anangpur has six FSP communities with 1,045 children where we have been running FSP that are Gurukul, Anangpur, Ghadhkhor, Dayalnagar, Palwal ,and Nuh.

FSP Nuh organised a ten day rural camp in January in collaboration with Department Of Social Work, Jamia Milia Islamia University and FSP Gurukul organised two weeks programme in collaboration with Bharti Usha Laxmi Mittal Institute of Management, Delhi. The aim and objective of these camps was to identify the community’s needs, to find out what better could be done for the benefit of the community, understand the existing resources and how they could be mobilised and to make the community people aware of the existing schemes of government and nongovernmental organisations of the state and central government. Moreover it also aimed at providing an experience in a group living in rural areas.

Bhuj SOS Social CentreSOS Social Centre Srinagar India

The SOS Social Centre Bhuj helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It is part of the SOS Medical Centre, which opened in October 2004. It focusses on skills training - tailoring and handicrafts - and family education.

Latur SOS Social Centre

The SOS Social Centre, Latur helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It reaches seven local communities, providing food, pre-school education, day care and skills training. In addition the SOS Social Centre has an immunisation programme.

Update from 2008:

Participation and partnership with local Government & Private medical college hospitals, private practitioners, Government agencies & NGO’s, colleges of Social work & Village Panchayats help provide package of services.

Rourkela SOS Social Centre

The SOS Social Centre, Rourkela helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It was set up in 2004 to reach out to twelve local communities, working with local NGOs. A local committee was set up in each village to co-ordinate the work which focusses on providing pre-school education and food for needy families.

Update from 2008:

The Social Centre also organised various training programmes for our stakeholders to strengthen the awareness level and skill up gradation of our stakeholders. Some of the important training programmes were:

  • Training on Reproductive and Child Health
  • Leadership Training for the Executive members of Self Help Group (SHG)
  • Leadership Training for the Teachers of Pre-School Learning Centre
  • HIV/AIDS training
  • Child Volunteers training on Child Rights
  • Training for Balwadi attendants, training on Biodegradable and Non-biodegradable products.
The Social Centre also stressed on the health awareness training of adolescent girls and organised training accordingly. SHG training was imparted to the members of 10 Self Help Groups.  Jewelry making, Mushroom Cultivation training was also imparted to the members of the group.  A Self-Helf Group from Jabapanposh participated in the All India level Art and Craft fair.  The exhibition has participants from 16 states of India exhibiting their products in 160 stalls. The members of the SHG representing SOS Children prepared fancy jewellry items and displayed the same in the exhibition.

 
Presently there are 7 partners for different communities. 26 meritorious students are receiving scholarship under FSP and 7 children are undergoing vocational training in different trades through the State Employment Mission.
