Xam Nua SOS Medical Centre
The SOS Medical Centre, Xam Nua helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the local community. It opened in 2005. It provides basic health care to orphaned and vulnerable children and their families in the poorest districts near to the SOS Children's Village, in the north east of Laos.
Xam Nua SOS Social Centre
The SOS Social Centre, Xam Nua supports the poorest families in the community. It helps orphaned and vulnerable children and their families with advice and support on malnutrition. From 2005 it also provided a day care centre for pre-school children of working mothers.
Update from 2008:
- Project for malnutrition children: Is one of our important attached projects. At beginning of this year 2008 until now, 38 children in malnutrition status were getting the reanimation, rehabilitation for 5-6 months by different kind of healthy food and exercises of muscles, then 18 of them were returned to hometown with the satisfied health in physical and mental status, after bringing them back home, we had to follow them for 3 months. Just right now 20 malnutrition children in need are living in 2 special houses at our village.
- Day Care Centre: Has provided 20 children in total with ages ranging from 1 year to 2 year old. All of them come from neighborhood and five Scholarship children.
- Aid programme for poor children is also integrated in our project: There are now 17 children in total in our Day Care Centre. 12 in nursery school and 5 in Day Care Centre.
